Anyone know how to record something direct from what the computer is playing, like not through a microphone or anything, just recording a file of what sounds are playing. Its annoying trying to record sounds with microphone because i get background noise and its quite distorted.

I assume you are wanting to record streaming audio from the internet. If this is the case then I suggest you might wish to try here for an appropriate application download :-

download Audacity (free) and have it record "Stereo Mix". All you'll need to do then is adjust the volume it's recording so it's not too loud.
