Who are your ' customers' as in male/female/singles/students/ what is the average age range? what is a typical transaction in terms of money? what is your busiest time of the day? sorry to ask you more it might help me offer some suggestions. A few ideas i could think of would be asking your customer what else they'd like you to stock (collate the info and see if there are either products or services that seem popular). offer loyalty, friend recomendation discounts etc.
How about more film related munchies such as crisps and tortilla chips, chocolate and drinks.

How about trying to see if you can get planning and such to operate an off license as well and sell booze and cigs?

How about speaking to other local business to offer mutually beneficial offers such as takeaways such as discounts on pizza when renting so many dvds or vice versa.

How about offering older films and such for sale if that's possible, have seen stores do that before.

Discount and loyalty schemes are good idea.
Adult DVD's.
Food has a great mark up...
Fresh Sandwiches - decent baguettes / wraps etc
Frozen pizzas
Ice Cream

get a concession from a LCD manufacturer like phillips and sell them on the side. I know a few places making a killing doing that.
