The Eagles played a "Hell Freezes Over" concert shown on MTV in 1994, so called apparently because one of the band swore once that they'd not get back together unless hell froze over.

Who was the band member who said that and what lead to the break up of the band in 1980?

How acrimonious was it?

There's a really good biography of the Eagles called 'To the Limit' by Marc Elliot that answers all that stuff in detail.

It's a good read even if you're not a big fan, most local libraries seem to have it.

Having said that I can't offhand remeber the specifics of what you're asking!!

I'm not sure which one but i think it was probably either Glen Frey or Don Felder. During the last tour before the breakup they became notorious for arging and fighting with each and the general bad feelling they caused in the band, on at least one occassion causing a brawl involving all the band members
It was Don Henley who said it.
Mr Spudqueen concurs that it was Don Henley who said it.
