my son is 18 and left school 2 yrs ago, since then he has been sacked from 2 apprenticships, 2 college places and another job. he says he wants work but then does nothing 2 find any. he lies in bed most of day when im out working and spends his evenings smoking weed. the more i encourage my son 2 find work and live a decent life the less he actually does. its now got to the stage that ive had enough and want him out, when i tell him this he just laughs at me. How do i get him out?

oh I am so sorry, it sounds like you are having a bad time of it!!

If it were me I would get someone to change the locks when he goes out........

The police would help if you wanted to take it that far other than that just pack his stuff. If it was me i would take him to register himself as homeless, you can go with him and tell them that you no longer want him there, he will also get extra points on the housing list if you write a letter saying you dont want him there
Give him one last ultimatum and if he doesn't sort himself out, pack his bags and when he's out of the house, get the door locks changed.
Are you sure you're not encouraging his attitude by continuing to do his laundry, tidy his room and cook his daily meals and generally let him think life owes him a living. . Withdraw all your services to show you're serious and don't feed him. When his belly starts to rumble he might start to realise you mean business. Remove any equipment like TV or computers from his bedroom too so that he can't stay there and skulk away pretending he's living on another planet.
He laughs at you because he knows you won't do it. i don't believe it either that you would actually push him out or change the locks or get the police involved.
I certainly think that charging him rent (from his dole money presumably), and stopping the cooking and cleaning etc. may help. And stopping his friends from coming round might also force him out a bit more and make him need the money.
The problem seems to be that he doesn't take you seriously so I think an ultimatum is necessary.!
