Where having a debate in our office... about... who should call who after a first date.

Scenario... you go out on a first date, it goes well (to you anyway)... then the waiting game begins.

Who should call/text who now? Should the lady wait for the man to call/text or should she text him?

There are 5 of us in our office, 2 ladies have said 'wait for him to make the first move', 2 ladies have said 'pick up the phone and text him' and I just don't know to say as my love life is totally useless (yes I am single) and I can't give out any useful advice! hahaha.

Anyway, opinions pretty please.

Thanks. xx

It all depends on how you left things after the date. Did he or you say you'd like to see each other again or have a cheeky kiss at the door?? He might be waiting for you to get in touch. I'd send a text saying it was nice to see him and you had a nice time (with an 'x' at the end). That way you're giving him an opp to reply and ask you out again, if you don't hear from him. You won't look too desperate or foolish as you were just being polite by thanking him.

I think 'The Rules' say something about waiting a max of 48 hours after a date to contact. So get to it!! i live by these rules and I am ...erm....single!!

Keep us posted on what happens next!!

Okay...seems like I missed a bit out of the scenario (which the lady in question has just come back into our office to tell us about!!!...geeeeshhhh).

Anyway, apparently she received a text off the chap the next day. Saying that he had a good night out and asking how was her day. She replied saying she was cool and thanked him for a good night too.

So, what she actually wants to know is 'what should she do now'.... wait for him to contact her or ask him out?

The ladies in my office now sound like a gaggle of geese, there are so many stories flying around about 'dates' and 'relationships' its hilarious!

Anyway, opinions pretty please (with the added information).

Thanks. xx
A txt shpuld be exchanged on the nite of the date afterwards to say something along the lines of i 'thanks i had a nice evening bla bla bla...' then its up to the bloke in my opinion...
If she likes him (sounds like she does) and if he likes her (sounds like he does) he has text once, but might be shy to text again so tell her to text to see if he has had a nice day, fancy a coffee or drink and take it from there.

Keep us informed.
'The rules' are completely outdated.
What if he's having the same thoughts as her and each is waiting for the other? It a complete waste of time, life's too short for sticking to rules of dating, if she likes him she should call him, if not don't call.

Lady in question has just come rushing into our office....he has text her and asked when she is free!

I guess it depends on how much you initially like each other. Good relationships aren't about playing power games. They're about being open and honest with each other and feeling confident enough to act naturally rather than playing psychological games. I made the first move when I met my husband, suspecting he might have been too shy to do it. Anyway we're still together 40 years later so I don't have any regrets about being a forward woman !
