My cat George is 6 1/2 and he has just recently started a very annoying habit.
He starts meowing almost shouting when he wants feeding. He starts at 6:30 am even though his breakfast time is 7:30.. He will try anything until we get up and go to his cupboard!
Any ideas what I can do to get him to calm down? He is almost hysterical and is making one hell of a noise.
He never used to do this. It only started last weekend.
Thanks in advance

What is it about cats called George? My George is 7 months and at 5am every morning (without fail) bites my feet and YOWLS in the most ear splitting tone. I have found the only thing to do is stick him outside (the bedroom that is) shut the door and let him yowl for a bit longer until he gets bored. I am insistent that I will win this particular battle of wills since 5am is not a particularly happy hour in my book. I think you will just have to try ignoring him until he realises that you are the boss!!!
Yes, stick to your guns. If you reward his behaviour with an earlier breakfast, then he'll know how to act next time he wants his own way. You'll make a rod for your own back!
my cat, George, who died last year was the same. The vet said to ignore him.

I went away on holiday for a week and he went to the cattery. After that there was no problem. I think that it is just a habit that they get into.

Drives you nuts.
