I had PRK done about seven years ago. Things have moved on from there and the procedure is now called something like lasik or lasek. At the time, I was told (because my astigmatism was bad) that I only had a 75 per cent chance of not having to wear specs again. However, when asked to elaborate, my surgeon told me I might need to keep a pair of specs in the car for driving. i decided to go ahead and felt it was the best money ever spent. I had better than 20/20 vision for six and a half years and have recently had to buy a pair of specs at -0.25 in each eye for driving (just as the surgeon said). I assumed it was permanent but if your eyes are going to change shape, there's nothing anyone can do to stop them - so no, there's no guarantees that it will last forever. However, if I felt I needed to have the procedure done again, I would! After having children, it's the best think I've ever had to spend money on. Read up on it thoroughly, know what to expect, have realistic expectations and enjoy the results...
