My son was messing about with his phone by way of plugging his samsung mp3 player usb data cable, into his mobile phone via computer, and it caused a power surge which has blanked the phone, tried changing the battery but to no effect, anyone know what has happened.

Hmmm, if its a power surge, i am afraid it might be totally gone. Dont throw your sim card tho. You can get a reader to transfer all your stuff...
A power surge will almost certainly send the phone circuitry to the "scrapyard" .Sorry ...but it looks like a gonner !!Even a small spike can cause issues and anything could have happened .Hope the other equipment hasn't suffered in any way.....
