This guy has created a mystique for himself by never appearing in public or even a dvd commentary (i dont believe thats him on the season 8 one)

but as all simpsons fans know he has written the best ever episodes

Did you wiki him qmark?

Seems to be a fair bit of info on him there, including writing credits for work and books outside of the Simpsons.
Based on whats there, it would appear he exists....
