Look for a hotel you like and then see if they have a website you can book direct on, you will save a fortune. With the flights all the operators have web only deals, eg i got flights to gran canaria for �7.00 out and �50 back

Travel agents want to make money. You cannot get a best deal from them unless they have to give it to you (last minute bargain)

I booked independently last year with thomsonfly for flights to palma and with www.prima-travel.com for the accomodation and transfers. Saved over a �1000 on the brochure price for exactly the same holiday minus the reps.
No probs whatsoever. Will never use travel agents again.
