"It might not be fashionable, or even acceptable in some quarters, to say so, but in their chosen field of "work'=", death by strangulation is an occupational hazard.
That doesn't make it justifiable homicide, but in the scheme of things the deaths of these five women is no great loss.
They weren't going to discover a cure for cancer or embark on missionary work in Darfur. The only kind of missionary position they undertook was in the back seat of a car. "

Quote from Richard Lttlejohn's column: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles /columnists/columnists.html?in_article_id=4235 49&in_page_id=1772&in_author_id=322&expand=tru e

nice to see charity at Christmas from the cancer curing Richard Littlejohn - lookout for his next trip to Darfur and his 'help the homeless' charity that he is setting up in the new year.

A while back, there were a few questions about why people didn't like the Daily Mail - this to me epitomises the paper's views.

Wonder if Littlejohn thinks the same about British soldiers dying in Iraq, or policewomen who get shot dead...
It is very easy for those of us who - by the very fact that they have access to a computer, and the education required to use it - have a hapier life than these poor woment, to lok down on them, and talk about an 'occupational hazard'.

The fact is, there are people in this world who simply do not have control over their lives, they are the people that life happens to, not people who make life happen. They find themselves in these situations through a set of circumstances which they did not choose, but which occured due to a variety of background issues - lack of love, support, education, future, hope, and they find themselves in a spiral of drugs and selling their bodies to obtain them.

It is all to easy to assume that these women somehow had a choice in their lifestyle, but in their means to earn a living, as in so many aspects of life, they simply drift into situations without the ability to reason or work their way out of them.

We should feel pity for them, that they were prey to a murderer because society has failed them, and I would suggest to those who look down from the moral highfround they occupy, that they should look a little deeper, and feel a little more compassion, and thaink that, if circumstances had been different for them, it could have their mum, or daughter, or sister, or friend who died in this terrible way, that was only just more terrible than their lives.

Think about it.
Can't wait to read Littlejohn's obituary:-
Won't be missed, Not Mother Theresa,
Never found a cure for Cancer, Waste
of Space.
How do some asbers who are always slagging off the Daily Mail know so much about what is written in the publication? When they make comments such as kev100's? quote : Anyone who reads this rag forfeits the right the right to be considered an intelligent human being.

"How do some asbers who are always slagging off the Daily Mail know so much about what is written in the publication"

Whilst I cannot speak for others, I found out about this from a political satire show - The Late Edition.

The other crap that I hear about from the Daily Mail is reported in Private Eye.

As opposed to just slagging the paper off however, I first find out if what I have heard is true (as is obviously the case in this matter) - and provide a link to the Daily Mail's website.
Just because I slag off the Daily Mail, doesn't mean I don't read it.It just means I don't agree with it. I also read the times and the Guardian for my "own" papers.
Ever heard the saying "keep your friends close and your enemies closer"? That's why I read the Daily Mail.
I make a point of knowing what the Daily Mail spoon feeds the masses as it's in the interests of my freedoms to know.
"How do some asbers who are always slagging off the Daily Mail know so much about what is written in the publication? "

Because people keep posting links to its 'stories', obviously.

andy-hughes, thought about it. I woulod like to make excuses for these women and absolve them of blame and put it down to poor education, family problems etc. But that is what has happend already and what has lead to the huge number of these dregs of humanity that plague our society. If people think that they aren't responsible for their actions and they can blame everybody/thing for their circumstances then they end up like we have seen. It's simple, if somebody offers you heroin / crack you simply say no.
Think about that.
And jamesy, that is the stupidest post i've seen on here for a while. Soldiers and Police are helping to preserve and uphold our society, RL's targets are poisoning it.
Question Author
jonnythebosh - just love your views - wasn't it also Hitler who thought that all tramps etc were the scum of society and rounded them up and gassed them - maybe he was on your train of thought.

jamesy boy's post is actually valid - there are people who think that if you join the army and get shot, then you should get no sympathy - after all, you should be aware that being shot is an 'occupational hazard'
Yes vic but soldiers police etc are not going around commiting crime and making others lives a misery with their behaviour. Trying to compare junkies/pros with police and sodiers is nothing short of moronic. And whats with the Hitler comparison? all i'm saying is that if you lead that life then the consequences are all to obvious, i at no stage said i support the what has happened, just merely pointed out that it is no great loss to society when you consider that they were just a drain on our resources.
Just because i'm not a bleeding heart like you who thinks that everybody should have excuses made for their behaviour and are not responsible for their actions, doesn't make me a Nazi. But why should i be suprised by the usual hysterical smear by a lefty, who when confronted with a perfectly reasonable response that doesn't echo his own thoughts, is just dismissed as a Nazi, blah, blah. I don't suppose you see the irony in your responce do you vic? It's almost facist isn't it?

"Yes vic but soldiers police etc are not going around commiting crime and making others lives a misery with their behaviour." - I'm sure there are plenty of people in Iraq who would disagree with that sentiment!

So, you agree with phrase "no great loss to society" - how about disabled people, how about those that don't work? If they were murdered in cold blood, would it be "no great loss"?

How do you define society? Are artists who do not get paid 'worthwhile'? What about poets?

The reason I use the Nazi extreme is that you seem to put a worth on human life - eg the life of a doctor is more 'valuable' than that of a prostitute - I find that extremely distasteful and if that makes me a bleeding heart liberal then guilty as charged.
