After reading this article, it reminded me of some of the posters on this site.
Particularly interesting was the venom poured on an 82-year-old woman by Guardian and New Statsman readers.
I am glad that I read the Daily Mail, at least it has not turned me into these pathetic nasty beings.

I rest my case, if Steve.5 is indeed speaking on behalf of the Left, then it is time they were all rounded up and put in some kind of instiution for the criminal insane.
If not perhaps the true Left-Wing should now speak up and dissociate themselves from idiots like Steve5. Perhaps in the same way that we ask true Muslims to dissociate themselves from the fanatical ones?

Hang on...'The Left' doesn't exist like some amorphous blob. It's not a political party...it's a wide church of varying degrees of socialism, and socialist principles.
If Steve.5 was a member of (say) the Communist Party, you could say, "What do other members of the CP think?"
However, it doesn't make any sense to ask other left-leaners to decry something written by someone who could have a who raft of political opinions which don't dovetail.
Incidentally, and there's no other way to put this - if she did die tomorrow, it wouldn't be untimely. She's 82. It would be pretty completely timely.
The average lifespan for women in the UK is 82.
Any woman dying at that age couldn't be more timely if she tried.

RIGeezer - you slipped up and used the well-worm right-wing phrase 'our children' - which goes along with 'our boys', 'our heroes', and, heaven forbid - 'our country'.
In regard to council housing - yes there are indeed some left, but the vast majority were sold to occupiers in a 'one-off' vote-catching deal which has left the deserving and genuinely needy members of society - sorry, OUR society - without an afforible means of housing, a disgrace in the developed world.
Thatcher was a politician - she sought, gained, abused, and lost power - that does not qualify her for a 'heroic' funeral paid for by burdened tax-payers.
Let her use some of the multi-million pound fortune she inherited from her late husband, and she can pay for as may 21-gun salutes as she wants - assuming they can find enough soliders not dying in illgegal wars to pop over and blast them off for her!
