Hi just wondered if you maybe have similar dilema's at the moment?
My daughter is 14, and i have NO clue what to get her for xmas, (without sounding like shes got EVERYTHING) she has ipod, mobile phone, tv dvd, spends most of her waking moments on msn, has webcam, wouldnt be seen dead in any of the clothes that i could choose? has all the usual hair/makeup/dvds that she has received as presents in the past, i suggested music cd's but was told she can download them duh!! my husband said just give her some money so she can choose her own clothes in the sales, but my feelings are............ what do you open on xmas day? just an envelope? times ticking on and evertime i open the argos catalogue it goes back in the drawer after 20 mins of drawing blanks!!! it will help just to know that other people have the same problems!! lol Ta x

Why not buy her some little things to open and give her some money, if she's on msn all the time then maybe computer related such as a fab mouse and mousemat, you can get all kinds of ones these days, novelty ones or you can get pictures put on mousemats now in some photo shops. Maybe a wireless mouse and keyboard if she's not got one.

How about a microphone on a webcam if she's not got one, even a bluetooth headset thing so she can speak to people she is on msn with.

Maybe a cosy chair for her to sit on while she's on it and a funky cosy throw now it's cold.

A special or novelty mug, you can get piccies put on them too now, maybe one of her and her friends.

Hey jenna thanks for the suggestions, have just been flicking (again) through the argos catalogue, and as shes always banging on about plucking her eyebrows etc they have some babyliss battery-type ones that look ok so thats one thing at least, and a blow-up chair maybe for the novelty aspect?? cheers.............
ps thought you werent serious about being fed-up, didnt mean to be flippant, i'm off to open a bottle of white? not always the answer but it all becomes a comfortable blur (for me anyways) hope you feel better soon x
Sorry but you said it she has EVERYTHING. Get her something for charity or suggest she clears out her things and gives them to a charity so that she can have new things. Kids today really are quite spoilt unfortunately. Give her the gift of good values she'll appreciate it one day.

:o)

fair point athley but can i ask other parents of 13/14/15 year old (girls) the things i have listed, arent they the norm? i mean i know friends of hers who have the above AND a damn sight more? its not that their spoilt but i cannot think of alternative presents apart from the ones i mentioned as MAIN presents at xmas and birthdays? the stuff she does have is certainly not top-of -the-range or the most up to date by any means its just that i dont see the point in updating things that are neither broken or deemed out of date now? so aside from a selection box or toys its a funny old age to buy for really?? : )
How about a games console and a couple of games,or a portable dvd or psp or something like that.
Think yourself lucky,my daughter produces a long list every year(this time it even had a cross-trainer on it !!!)

thanks to everyone for taking the time out to answer : ) xx
When i was that age i just wanted money.

My mum spent all xmas eve compiling riddles and hiding the money where the answer was

eg - With one flick of a switch its gone, its magic but dont forget the bad

answer - hoover next to the hoover she put 20 and another clue.

It ment i got the money i wanted still had fun and it took alot longer than ripping open presents.
My daughter is nearly 14 and I got her to write me a list of all the things she would like - posters, CD's nail gems etc. I just picked out the most suitable things. Ill find out at Christmas whether I got it right or not!
what about buying her some jewellry? a necklace or a nice watch maybe. does she have long hair? straighteners are always a hit with teenagers, how old is her mobile? maybe she could do with a new one or if shes on pay as you go why not put a couple of top up vouchers in her stocking.
make up is also a good idea or perfume a girl can never have enough of those lol. does she have a digital camera? or a really big pressie would be to get her a camcorder then she can have loads of fun with that with her mates and that way she will have plenty of memories to keep stored for when shes older.
im even struggling this year with my 7 yr old so dont worry ur not on ur own lol
good luck and a very merry xmas x

Im 13 and for the last two years my mams just took me into town and given me a budget so when i see something I would like i can buy it, then she wraps them up for me...ok I know what im unwrapping but i'd prefer to do that than for my mam to get something I didn't like...

hey loren, thanks for replying, might try that one next year!!
(just out of curiousity is there not a minimum age limit on here? cos i told my daughter she hd to be 16?) only cos if she gets on it, i will never get chance lol
Hi I had the same problem last year with my 15year old twin boys, so in the end I bought silly little things, gloves, aftershave, socks, huge tin of chocolate, etc and taped 20 to each present. They had presents to open and had money as well,

Job well done.

Good luck.
Question Author

* meant LUCKY
If she has everything, as you say she has, why don't you open her a savings account (not to be touched until she is a lot older) or buy her some premium bonds etc. All the things you mention in your above question like DVDs, ipods and so on will be a dim and distant memory to her by the time she is 21. I wish my parents had done something like that for my sister and I!!!!
