I am horrified to read in today's Daily Mail that only 16 percent of the population make an effort to watch the Queen's Speech on Christmas Day.

I have never missed one and take great pride in seeing our lovely Queen deliver a heartfelt narration.

Who will be watching ? (and I don't want any commie answers saying they will be watching the Muslim one on Ch4 instead!!!)

God save the Queen and long may she reign.

Sorry to break this to you Wardy but we havent got an Empire anymore. Can i borrow your time machine Wardy ? I'd love to know what it is like in 1960 - where you obviously live!

I just hope in my lifetime we see the Monarchy go the same way as 'her' Empire - consigned to the history books.

I would rather hack off my own head with a blunt, rusty pen knife than listen to a 'speech' from an arrogant, pampered and priviledged relic of a bygone age who has done nothing for me or 99.9% of 'her' people except leech off them and spend their taxes on corgies, horses, gin and head scarves.
gary baldy, your answer made me laugh... so extreme!
But yet I agree with you, and as do the majority of the people who have posted here.
I was under the impression the 'Queens' speech' was written for her anyway. If that;s the case she is only a puppet reading from an autocue anyway.

I have personally never seen one of her appearances - apart from the year when she kept going on an
bout anus horribalis - the news obviously picked up on the anus bit and kept replaying it.

Maybe if she did a comedy version more often she'd get more bums on seats (or standing!) She should get someone like Matt Lucas and David Walliams to write it - be brilliant.
Oh heck hang on there's loud banging on my door - think I'm being taken off to the Tower!!!
This Christmas Day at 3.00pm, I shall be doing what I always do on Christmas Day at 3.00pm - belching, farting, and dropping decreasingly subtle hints to my brother-in-law's mother that she really should be making a move soon, before it gets dark.
Get rid of the program, especially what was reported about her and the recording today:

ive a choice watching that speech or cleaning the dog mess up from outside, whers my shovell.
It's not as funny as it used to be, is it?
I think the one where Grandad unscrews the wrong chandalier is the best.
Well, I'm 60 and I don't care what she has to say. I never have watched the queens speech and I never will - I think the royals are a total waste of space. The only person who got me a bit interested in them was Di and now she's gone. I don't agree with us having to support the royals either, they should be made into a plc and support themselves - they've got enough money!

We should have a president.
I am not a royalist so I WILL NOT be watching. I find her partonising. If people want to watch her then fine but NO WAY will I
Wardy why are you sad? look people like you, wardy, will agree with every the royals has to say just because it was a royal who said it but if it was anyone else you would say they where talking tripe.
Gary Baldy, you took the words from my mouth , excellent !!

There is one respect in which I'll agree with the "long may she reign" sentiment. The longer the old dear hangs on, the less time there is for her adulterous, horse-marrying, jug-eared lunatic son to do the gig.
I have never ever watched it and obviously not missed out so it just shows what value and relevance it has.

The royal family is only there by default and dont make any decisions on anything important which is quite right! Waste of time and money\- I cant believe 16% of people watch it either probably too ****** to turn over!
