Is crack cocaine worse than cocaine?

My friend has just told me her boyfriend is getting some "base" this weekend. Looking on the web it says this is crack cocaine. When i hear "crack" I always seem to think this is really bad (i know all drugs are of course!). What is it and why does it leap out to me that it is so bad? I'm thinking like on the level with herion?

Do you know this really makes me angry. Why do people have to take drugs to have a good time? I found out a couple of years back that my boyfriends mates snort coke now and again and I just think to myself 'why?'. I'm sorry but I just cannot understand it. I'm only 24 and nearly everyone I know has tried it or does it regularly. I just think its so sad...and some of these people have kids. wrong.

Anyway ^^^^^^^ that's better than how I could say it. I'm not saying drugs are a great, fantastic thing and everyone should do them or even that they should be legal (although I certainly think there's a good case for it) but just thought that I might add a different perspective.

The problem is that the term base is used my many different prepairations of cocaine, in the book Marching Powder about a man in a bolivian prison, base is raw cocaine paste thats cheaper and much more addictive that pure coacine. P.s stop hanging around with losers or before you know it you will be one of them - AB's man abroard...

Of course there are Caz, I'm not saying there isn't but I do agree that drugs are not always an evil thing and actually I think that some good things have come out of them and will do in the future too.
Skunk is supposed to be useful in pain relief, there was some research being done at one point regarding E because it was believed that it might have some benefit to people suffering from althezimers/parkinsons, (whether that's true or not I don't claim to know). We all know about the drugs in hospital that contain froms of heroin (meths and what have you) which can ease pain and anaesthise (bad sp).
Then we've got tribes all over the world who have some plant or herb or something they use. Drugs have been around for a long time and humans will always use them to gain a different perspective/get in touch with their Gods etc... The problem I think comes from the highly addictive drugs and that some people take drugs (any form) to numb themselves to something on the inside.
Yes, addiction (of any sort) is a dreadful thing. I speak from experience on this. Of course I wouldn't wish a drug addicted mother or father on children. Believe me, I'm not trying to cause offence, but I am just putting my own take on what I think is an interesting discussion.
I stand by the fact that I do think that some good has come out of and will continue to come out of drugs.
