I think you mean 'gamut' which refers to a range or scale. So, the whole gamut means the whole kit 'n' caboodle.
Usually used in the context: ........went through the whole gamut of emotions............. i.e. an important football match where one experiences pain, pleasure, grief, elation etc.
Dorothy Parker wrote a wonderful review of Katharine Hepburn's appearance in the Broadway play, 'The Lake', which read: "She delivered a striking performance that ran the gamut of emotions, from A to B."
