does anyone remember when the BBC did a series on modern versions of some of shakesperes plays? does anyone know where i can find a midsummer nights dream on the internet? or can you suggest a good modern version? thanksx

I think you're thinking of the BBC series Shakespeare Re-told - four modern plays based on the plots of plays (including AMND) - but having little else in common. Available on DVD from all the usual Amazon, play.com etc.

The best recent version of the actual play is the movie starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Rupert Everett - also available on DVD,
