My parents have bought a bar and moved to sunny Spain. I had the oppertunity to go with them, and i was going to, but then decided i didnt wanna leave my mates and my job. Im going to visit them on Sunday and am worried that i will change my mind again and decide to move. Can anyone offer any advise on moving away, leaving mates and jobs behind cos thats whats stopping me!!

where in spain you moving to???

I have lived in spain for 2yrs, I live in alicante, and its very spanish so theres stuff on all yr round, if u live in benidorm, or Torrevieja its very english full of brits and seasonal and you will get really bored, itdepends where you are, where r u moving to?
Remember that lving and working in a bar in Spain is not all fun. You cant just shut up shop and go to the beach.

You need to be open long hours, and deal with all sorts of people. And you will be doing the same thing for 5 years, 10 years etc.

The number of people who buy a bar in Spain but return home within 2 years is very high (30% or more).

Search the interent and see how many bars there are for sale. I think many agents in Spain are happy to take the commission for selling a bar, knowing they are going to sell it again in 6 months.

There is other work to do other then bars, it depends where in spain for a start,

where are u moving to??
Dont ever bring your mates into the equation. This is your life. Mates will not be around after a few years and who is to say they would not up and leave if any of them had the opportunity.

Thanks, my parents have already bought the bar, they bought it as more of a hobby, so they dont get too bored while living there!!!! It is in the south, Benalmadena, near Malaga.
Hi starry eyes. Do what you feel is right for YOU. Your ma +pa have made their choice, that 's right for them. If your mates are your real mates they;ll flock over to see you!! Good luck, and think of the future:
