Tulsa, Gene Pitney San Fransisco, various Georgia (not sure it may be a state) Glad. Knight and the pips Belfast Boney M London Ralf Mactell Liverpool Jimmy Osmond New York New York (was it Sinatra) I'll get some more later
jeez, there's absolutely thousands. why do you want to know?
Birmingham, Randy Newman (There is a rose in)Spanish Harlem, Ben E King. Hoolwood swinging, Kool and the Gang. Memphis, Chuck Berry. Winchester Cathederal, New Vaudeville Band. Vienna, Ultavox.
what about narrowing it down to british cities, thast oughta make it a bit more interesting :- "Supertrouper" by Abba (Glasgow) "Belfast Child" by Simple Minds a couple to start with, see where it goes...
New York New York - Gerard Kenny (different song to the Frank Sinatra) New York City - T Rex New York Groove - Hello What made Milwakee Famous - Rod Stewart Viva Las Vegas - Elvis Presley / ZZ Top Walking back to Liverpool - The Bangles Tokyo Feeling - The Dooleys Tokyo - Dollar
Barcelona - Freddie Mercury All the way to Reno - REM Leaving Las Vegas - Sheryl Crow Fairytale of New York - The Pogues & Kirsty MacCall One Night in Bangkok - ?? Brownsville Turnaround On the Tex-Mex Border - KLF Six Hours To Louisiana, Black Coffee Going Cold - KLF Detroit Rock City - Kiss Santa Fe - Jon Bon Jovi Acapulco - The Four Tops Miami - Will Smith Big Sur - The Thrills

i knew i was right! I said there was loads of songs about cities, but then failed to prove it after singing londons calling a few times and then getting a bit stuck (apart from aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh viiiennnnaaaaa)
London - The Smiths Paris By Air - Tygers Of Pan Tang Passage To Bangkok - Rush
'The Beautiful South' had that song that had about half a dozen cities in it, was it called 'Rotterdam'? And I can't believe that 'Chicago' hasn't been mentioned yet!
Dancin' In The Street (Jagger/Bowie version) contains Tokyo, Chicago, New Orleans, New York, Philidelphia, Baltimore 'n' DC and LA. Also contains loads of countries and name checks 'The Motor City' which is Detroit (I think...) If you want the oddest mix of cities in one song how about Daybreak by The Stone Roses which mentions Atlanta,Georgia; Longsight, Mancheter; New York City and Addis Ababa (sp?)! It's Immaterial's song Driving Away From Home has numerous places on the M62 listed on it including Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds, from memory. Scarborough Fair - Simon and Garfunkel No Sheep 'til Buxton - Macc Lads !!!! I'll keep thinking.......
Rotterdam by the beutiful south did in fact mention Liverpool and Rome in addition to Rotterdam. Another song by the South.... "Pretenders to the Throne" mentions Cologne, Milan, London, Lisbon, Dublin, Madrid, Paris and Hull.
Also; Tennessee - Arrested Development Is This The Way To Amarillo? - Tony Christie (and Max and Paddy!) Graceland - Paul Simon (mentions Memphis) Sproston Green (little village rather than a city!) - The Charlatans Rio - Duran Duran Midnight Train to Georgia - Gladys Knight and the Pipis (mentions LA and a few other cities that I can't remember) I Left My Wallet in El Segundo - A Tribe Called Quest The Night I Heard Caruso Sing - Everything But The Girl (mentions Oban and Montrose)
Supertrouper - Glasgow. Er What???
The Thrills: Santa Cruz
In response to a few of the answers given: Georgia and Louisiana are states, not cities; Spanish Harlem is not technically a city but an area in a city.
Gef: "I was sick and tired of everything when I called you last night from Glasgow" - first line of first verse!
