We have just bought a brand new Ford Ranger TDCI to replace our previous Ranger which is now five years old and we are bitterly disappointed in it's lack of towing capability. It is supposed to tow 3ton but is struggling to tow 2. We are in the process of communicating with Ford technical department to see what they can do about it.......as it does not meet their spec. we feel it is their duty to correct or replace. We would like to know has any one else out there found a similar problem.

Doesn't a 3 tonne towing weight mena including the original vehicle?

If it's not doing what it should do, then Ford surely must sort out the problem!
My mother has a Freelander and that supposedly can tow 3 tonnes... yet it seriously struggles when we have both horses on the trailer.
Instead we use my 4.2 range rover which has no problem at all.

What are you trying to do with the 2 tonnes and does the trailer have brakes or does the car brake for the trailer?
