It depends on what make of boiler it is they all differ in one way or another.

I wouldn't bother with trying to replace the diaphragm - replace the whole valve as a complete part.

the boiler is a halstead wickes combi 82

There are two flow switches on that boiler the primary flow switch and th Domestic Hot Water flow switch which one wants a new diaphragm ? Have you not got the Manufacturer's instructions ?
