is there a reason why, when a simple question is asked ,the reply refers to a web site . i can think of one but would not like to offend. i accept that in depth information is at time is vital, but not of one word answers.

Who has upset you fuggy?
As far as I can see you have always been given simple answers to simple questions.

Personally, I give website references if it looks as if my answer could just be a guess (as confirmation) or if the answer is too long winded to type out again.

Sometimes I give a link to a previous answer here on AnswerBank. That is because I do not wish to take credit for someone else's answer.

What is the problem with clicking on a link anyway?
I like the links as I am one of those people who like to check an answer if I can and the link saves time
