raincovers

hi i put this in family but no replies.
my son keeps kicking the raincover on his stroller and i wasnt sure if they sell bigger ones or should i stop using it altogether
any suggestions???

In this weather ? No. The raincover is a must. Your son is too young to brave the elements in my opinion. The raincover will shield him from the wind and the rain and speaking as a mother who went out today with her two youngest in a double buggy to pick up her eldest child from school , in torrential rain and howling winds , trust me , the raincover is a must. I don't quite understand why him kicking it is a problem. Has he ripped it or burst the clips at the bottom or is it just an annoyance that he kicks it ? Young children do get bored in their buggy sometimes and my son (aged 22 months) - who sits at the front of the double buggy - detests the raincover with a passion but given the alternative of him being drenched and chilled to the bone , what can I do ? He too kicks it but I talk to him and use distraction techniques.

Mine (nearly 2) likes to poke her feet out the sides of her raincover so they get soaked. I've found nailing her feet to the kick bar very effective :-)

Seriously....not sure if enigma's method is very practical, if you used a distraction method, you'll be stopping every 20 paces, never get anywhere!

I find bribing her with bananas, apples, grapes etc is sucessful, if she's stuffing her face mine tends to forget her feet.

That's what I meant Boo. Anything which takes their mind of their feet is a distraction. You don't have to stop to talk to your child though - especially in the rain ! I walk and talk , pointing out various things to my son and yes , stuffing their faces usually works ......... until the food runs out ! They will only eat until they are full , which is fine for a while but not if you have a lot of walking about to do. If you make a big deal out of them kicking their legs at the raincover , then they will do it all the more. The best thing I find is to ignore it and deflect the attention onto something else , like looking at the birds or passing cars , talking to them and telling them where you are going or as you say stuffing them with fruit. I find that the trick is to keep the annoyance low key or they will do it all the more to torment you because young kids can be little toerags !

I have this problem too. The raincovers tend to just about fit over the feet and press on them too. Solution - sod all you can do about the fit ,except shop around and around and around, until you find the perfect shape and length. That's if you have hours to spare and no child with you!!!!
Not a helpful answer I'm afraid but I entirely agree and empathise with you........

Oh I had the exact same problem with my daughter! She managed to kick the bottom of the raincover by kicking it sooo much! I was forever trying to sew it back to the lining bit! Then when I had my son she was in the double buggy so it wasn't such a problem (she prefered to walk by then!). Hmm i'm not too sure if they are all one size, may be worth looking in some discounted shops. I know that Wilkinsons sell them for about �8.
