There is no such road sign. There will be things put up for tourists, but not real road signs.

The distance by road is about 875 miles

the answer is 874. if you do a google image search for john o groats there are numerous pictures of the sign

like dzug says, it's not an official road sign, but he's just being a bit pedantic.
