Does anybody know where I can find out how many pets/pet owners there are in Britain, and a breakdown of the pets they own?

There is a Pet Foods Manufacturing Association. If you Google for their website you might be able to find some general information there although I think it's geared more towards the manufacturers of pet foods, rather than their owners.
