Squire Telecaster and telecaster
Hey all. Thinking about getting a squire telecaster soon and was just wondering if anyone knows what is the physical difference between a fender squire telecaster and a normal fender telecaster. Looking at them they are the same and it appears the pickups are the same but are vintage in the standard tele. If you could get back asap it would be great! Thanks, Rob.

Mr Hellion tells me (he repairs and sellsguitars as well as teaching)
American Fender has body made from alder or ash with a one piece maple neck or maple with rosewood fingerboard.
Squire body is made from a far eastern derivative like poplar and the neck is made from a maple derivative.
The main difference is the quality the pickups are superior on the American Fender.Bridge uses stainless steel saddles.

just to back up what Hellion said, Squier guitars are fantastic.
The body and neck craftsmanship is every bit as good as a Fender, with slightly poorer qualiy electrical components. I've had a Squier Strat for years, and have built several guitars using Squier parts. I've also played genuine Fenders and anyone that says they can tell the difference in sound quality is fibbing.
The only real 'noticable' difference is the logo on the headstock.

It's also a bit unfair comparing a Squier Tele to a USA tele, as they are opposite ends of the scale.
All Squiers are made in the far east, but you can get a normal Fender tele made in either Mexico, Japan or USA and the quality of these three is different, with the USA one being the best made (usually!).
As the guys here have said, main difference is components used, but all in all they are fantastic guitars.
