no the contrceptive coil !!!!!!
If I were you I'd go for the marina coil. Theres nothing to worry about
Question Author
but hasnt the marina coil got hormones in? will it make me put weight on?
yes it has. I don't know about the weight gain. I think it's the same as the pill. I know the marina coil can stop you having periods. Which is good. I had the normal one and I didn't have a problem at all
hi vaseline,
I have had the coil fitted and I get very very heavy periods now and can last for around 1 1/2 weeks. but apart from that side of things it is very good because like y
ill finish,

you say there are no hormones and no increase of putting on weight,
Be warned you could bleed for 8 weeks non stop when you first get it fitted i did!!
I had one without hormones as I don't like the idea of them being adjusted.

It was fine all the time until it came to being taken out and that was an awful crunching sensation which has made me reluctant to have new one fitted.

I liked it though as I never had to think about it.
vaseline, has your GP or clinic not given you any info about side effects?
I wouldn't advise it if you haven't had children - when you've had children, you are used to being 'messed about with' down there. Take a couple of neurofen an hour or so before the fitting. You may have heavier periods at first, but that should soon settle down.
Ive had a coil fitted and haven't had any children. Only get one if you have a regular partner as you are more susceptable (spelling???!!) to infections otherwise, I had one fitted nearly a year ago and have had no problems. The only thing Ive found is my period is heavier for the first day or two, but it doesnt seem to last as long as it used to! I didnt bleed after having it fitted or anything like that. And I would advise to get a normal one and not one with hormones as the whole point of a coil is not to put extra hormones in your body therefore messing it around!!! Hope this helps, sorry if it doesnt! x

Hi.. I've had a Mirena coil for 3 years and its the best thing ever....
I get very sparse periods (if any at all) and just a small amount of PMT.
My local Family Planning nurse said she recomends them to every one as they are so good....
Hope this helps!!!!
