with todays technology why have they not introduced a system that prevents vehicles exceeding a speed limit for every road by means of a sender in the road sign and a receiver in the vehicle. would you say it's too expensive or easier to fine motorists. how much is the cost of a life?

The powers that be are already working to introduce this system by using sattelite technology, it is under trial at the moment.

The problem is income from speed cameras would dissapear.

true but i'm sure they'd pass the cost of technology onto the motorist. possibly in the price of new cars, or road tax. you just know that at the end of the day there is always another way of ripping us off
Jesus!!! The roads in Britain are grinding to a halt already because of these pathetic speed limits around today. I say get rid of all speed cameras apart from the ones by schools, and speed britain UP!!!

schools and traffic lights
Sure, the roads are overcrowded and safety is an issue So, I reckon that standards required to drive in the first place should/could be raised. Also, standards to continue to drive should/could be checked more frequently than once (the initial driving test).

Such things as driving on roads other than urban centres should be included in the driving test. Also, tests to see the extent to which a driver can retain control in the event of a skid etcand so forth

This would KILL (etc) fewer people with the one approach. Roads would be come less congested and those that are LEGALLY driving would be required to drive to and maintain higher standards. Much like the vehicle itself needs to be tested annually (in the UK), Id advocate that drivers should be tested more frequently than once and required to be able to things more tricky than merely reversing round a corner!!!
