It was actually a 12 year old girl and it actually happened in July.
It was on the BBC news site yesterday (or possibly Wednesday). Also, I think it was a video, from a security camera.

BTW, don't panic, it looks horrific, but she only suffered some broken bones, and now almost back to full health.
Thanks for letting me know to not read any papers today, because they all have a photo of a horrible accident in.
Unless there's one with an "Even Better" picture...
i think this is awful my little girl was hit by a car two months and got sent in the air, why anyone would want to see this is beyond me.
loopyc, sadly there are all too many who want to see stuff like this - and film of cats being hurled off balconies, children being injured in stunts, teenagers assaulting or insulting teaching staff....
.. and when they get bored of that, coming soon to an open access video site near you : a real murder.
I'm all in favour of newspapers publishing the picture. In the same way that I approved of newspapers printing the picture of the girl who'd taken a heroin overdose.

It's not for people to enjoy. It's to shock and educate.

TV road safety adverts changed their emphasis about 5 years ago setting out to deliberately shock viewers. They've been the most successful road safety adverts we've ever had.
mollymoo im sorry for my reaction things are still very raw for me before my daughters accident i would of thought how awful for the poor girl in the picture and got on with what i was doing. when you have been through something similar you expect everyone to no how you feel and i no that is not the case. if this picture makes people stop and think whilst driving then its a good thing, im just sorry for my reaction xx
