Liverpool.

It started in March 1859 and was pulled by horses along rails in the street.

1873, London, the first steam driven tram in the UK.

And in 1883, Brighton had the first electric tram.

Ulster was first, at the Giant's Causeway, which was operational a few months before the Brighton one, but it was not in public service until after Brighton.

The first electric tram to use the overhead trolley system in the UK was in Leeds in 1891, and this became the model for trams worldwide.
