Don't know if this is the right place to post this question however it is quite scientific. I got engaged 2 years ago and got a white gold engagement ring. I'm getting married this coming july and would like a platinum wedding band as I hate the fact I have to keep getting my white gold engagement ring rhodium plated. Is it safe to wear white gold and platinum together? I have seen rings with both yellow gold and platinum on the same band. Thanks.

Not surprisingly we were told to have both wedding and engagement rings in platinum (thank you Barclaycard) to stop the much harder platinum wearing away the white gold. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but it does make sense.
I would strongly discourage wearing separate gold and platinum bands. The gold band WILL suffer, trust me. The only reason you see both on the SAME band is for the simple reason is that they do not actually rub together, as they are bonded.
