Hi,

I was on my way home from work today on a Motorway. I was definately speeding and passed a Police car parked on an abnormal part of the hard shoulder (wider than normal) Obviously I did not notice him due to all of the traffic, but I am not sure of the proceedure a Motorway cop uses. If he has caught me speeding on a Motorway would he follow and pull me over ? or, would he be capable of taking a film / photo and using that ?
NB. he was sat in the car, not operating a camera outside. I asked as the speed i was doing, I believe would have made him react differently, but he did not move.

Unfortunately there's no way of knowing for sure. It would be possible for the officer to record your car and speed on the video, then arrange for you to be summonsed through the post. However this is unlikely. Far easier for him to pull you and dish out a fixed penalty. He could have been busy and unable to stop you. Or maybe not. I suppose you'll have to wait the 14 days and see!
most motorway police cars have video equipment in them,so he could have had it on,you will have to wait and see.
Police on motorways use radar equipment. You should find out within two weeks if you have been 'caught'.
