I have been given an orchid in a terrarium (M&S).

Does anyone know if the terrarium opens? It is open at the top with a small gap at the side but otherwise enclosed. Awkward to water and, later, to prune etc.

weren't there instructions with it? Looking at the M&S page comments, other people say there were.

Question Author

No, else I wouldn't be asking.

Just usual positioning and watering instructions but nothing to say if you can open the terrarium.

I will look on M&S page more thoroughly later. Thanks

You could try asking M&S, even if you didn't get it directly from them

Does the little "door" at the top open?

It also says you can soak the pot in water. Is the top or bottom hinged do you can open either

Question Author

I can't open any part of it but have arthritis in hands. Will have to try again as there is nothing obvious.

My son gave it to me but he is now recovering from cancer op and won't bother him.

If not will try and contact M&S.

Thanks all.

I always heard to water an orchid with an ice cube, because they need such little water, may help with awkward watering :)

I'm p'd off with my Orchid.  It was glorious for the first 12 months but hasn't blossomed again over the last 2 years although it sits in the same position by the window.  I water it as instructed on the label.  I'm thinking of ditching it but feel that would be a shame:-(

Sorry, don't mean to put you off Gill. x
