Did you have turkey for dinner last night? Give the duvet a shake and open the windows
Cold, wet, stinky grass
sam I know exactly what you mean. Whether my xmas aroma is the same as yours we'll never know, but there definitely is one. It's hard to describe it though. It's not any kind of cooking smell, for sure. Maybe... a mix of pine and wrapping paper?! Even though we don't have a pine tree for xmas, I'm sure I still get that smell at xmas - though perhaps it's just arising from my childhood memory!
what do you look like?
i thought i could smell broken glass!

Yes i know what you mean last night i could smell (what I call) a Halloween smell - apples and tree leaves. I love the smell of xmas decorations too, especially tinsel. Lol
YES,

The smell of being ripped off again {every xmas}
You're right, it's that cold autumn morning smell, but then again...I can smell when it's gonna snow, the kids think I'm mad, but I'm always right...lol

I know that Christmas smell too! It may be different from what you associate with Christmas, and I don't pick up on it every year, but every now and then around November/December time I get a scent and a tingly feeling and it reminds me of the excitement I had when I was a child (a child in the literal sense of the word that is!!).

Have you seen those candles in jars that are s'posed to capture certain smells? Some of them are quite good, but for me the Christmas ones never capture the proper smell of Christmas...

I think it's a mixture of cold Winter air and gifts/gift wrap in the shops, combined with street lights and carolers. :o)
Ooh, divegirl, I'm like that with rain! Even when there are grey clouds overhead I always know if it's going to actually rain, or whether it will be a light shower or a storm. It's like a 6th sense with me.
Definitely know what you mean, I live in the New Forest and for me it's damp earth, mist, bonfire smoke, pine, holly and frost, with a slight whiff of salt air from the sea.

Champagne do you mean Yankee Candles? I use them a lot at Christmas, they do one called Christmas Cookie that smells just like a buttery, baking vanilla biscuit, everyone who comes in asks me what I'm baking. They also do a cinnamon one which is good too.
I love that smell. It's more than just a smell though; it's an excited feeling that goes with it.

Whenever I get that I think it must just be in my head. Kind of like when you think about strawberries and then it's as if you can smell them.
Yankee candles! Those are the ones!!

I might have to buy that cookie one. Sounds devine. Thing is, it might prompt me to start eating my bodyweight in freshly baked cookies... :o}
My Personal Favourites besides the ones I mentioned are Clean Cotton (Fresh Laundry great for ironing days!)
Fresh Comfort - smells like fabric conditioner nice one for when your cleaning the house.
MacIntosh Apple - just right for now as it smells just like apples
French Vanilla. - yummy

I may have to try the new coffee one!
Glad we got some sensible non-satirical answers eventually.

I agree there's a tingle of excitement or something associated with "the xmas smell". For me, maybe not excitement as such, but certainly a comforting sort of pleasure. The warm glow associated with having some time off, relaxing indoors where it's toasty while it's chilly outside, and not having to do anything or go anywhere.

For a few years I lost the sense of pleasure I associated with xmas and joined in with the "I hate it, it's so commercial" brigade. But I've learned to tune all that out and enjoy it again. It helps that my workplace give us all the non-bank holiday days off plus xmas eve and half the preceding day - nice! So from noon on Thu 21st through to Tue 2nd is pure leisure time. Oh yes, I'm definitely looking forward to xmas, smell or no smell!
you got the smell of something when you were a kid,,and something has triggered it,,,,,,,,,,mines the smell of plastic boxs
The smell of cloves at Christmas reminds me of my grannie ... she had lots of fresh herbs in the kitchen.
Yankee Candle do some gorgous Christmas candles - my favourite one is one called Christmas pudding.
