Although I have always felt that Fox News has never wholly deserved the opprobrium heaped on it by some

Will this interview reach parts of America it needs to?

From Fox News, probably not, but may I ask you a quick question, Ich?  My husband heard that a whole Russian platoon, apparently on a marching exercise, has been blown up by Ukraine.  Have you heard that?

Well Fox News I'd say reaches the sort of audience Ukraine needs to reach.

I'd heard that two training camps in occupied Donetsk on successive days were hit by a HIMARS (High mobility artillery rocket system: basically deadly accurate missile that can be fired from the back of a truck). Also, the Russians lost 6 of their best fighter planes in the space of three days, probably to Patriot air defence missiles.

Just now Ukraine is feeling the effect of lack of ammunition that previously it had received from the US. Hence the (in fact partial) withdrawal from the ruins of Avdiivka. And Russia launched a five-pronged offensive from occupied Donetsk towards the liberated but beleaguered towns on Lyman (there was a report from there on BBC news the other night), Kupiansk etc. No doubt trying to take advantage of what we all hope will be a temporary  shortfall, particulary as a lot of other countries have stepped up supplies while the US Congress dithers and holidays.

Thanks Ich.

ich, a side-liner to the thread - what's your connection to Ukraine?

Question Author

A guest on one of Russia's propaganda TV talk shows who claimed that 16,000 Russians had died in the capture of Avdiivka had been found shot dead - tragically (in fact the figure is much higher - probably around 47,000). If you look at the daily attrition rates currently for Russian men and material the losses are staggering: and a 7th plane in a week yesterday. These are a sign that the Russians are on the offensive and to date these suicidal human wave attacks have ultimately been successful: but even with a higher population and massive military spending eventually these losses will prove unsustainable, provided aid keeps coming

A third today, it seems ...

We go back a long way: you really only have to visit the country to "get" it. It happened to Boris Johnson, it's now happened to Matthew Parris of the Times who previously was rather lukewarm about supporting the country. Now he is plainly besotted, and not just with the young Ukrainian barmen 😆
