probly today

For me, on the 12th, next Thursday would be the 22nd and to-day would have been this Thursday.

How are we expected to know? Why didn't you clarify yourself at the time?

I think so yes, Sandy.  Otherwise they would just say Thursday.  Next Thursday said on a Monday  refers to next week.

To me 'next' Thursday is the 'next' Thursday .... so today.  Next week would be Thursday after next.  NEXT!!  :o)))

I assumed today.  I've been waiting since 9 o'clock and will probably need to wait the rest of the day.

I would have said that regardless of whether the statement had been made in the same week or no.

"This Monday" or, "On Monday" means the one coming up and "next Monday" is the Monday after that.

They might do their face to face appointments in the mornings.  You could well wait all day.  Why don't you give the surgery a ring to clarify?

Question Author

It's very difficult to get through to the surgery on the phone.  It rings then you get cut off.

I remember a time when you could walk into the surgery on a Wednesday morning and if you were prepared to wait you'd be seen.

Alas Sandy trying to contact some gps is difficult today, not all . I hope you are not unwell.
such a pity even in CB we can be subjected to totally unwarranted abuse .

Abuse?  Where?

Pretty vague though probably next week ...  when I get such a call, receptionist usually gives me date and time the call will be made.

Next week, seems a long time to wait for a telephone consultation though .

If it's not deemed by a receptionist to be urgent it's not unusual to wait a month for a telephone appoint with my GP.  Hopeless!

Maybe Sandy, if you live close enough to it & can't get through on the phone, call in to the reception in person

Ours too Naomi.

I woud have assumed today as well Sandy.  I find my surgery is quieter during the lunch hour and about 1.20pm is a good time to ring and get answered quickly.

Question Author

No call so they meant next Thursday.

I should have asked the date but forgot.

We are allowed to forget Sandy . Over a week to speak to a GP.
