The recycling bins are emptied tomorrow, thank goodness. We are always amazed that we have the fullest bins of all the neighbours.
They are emptied fortnightly. I cook meals from scratch virtually each night so it isn't pizza packages etc I am on about, just daily stuff, in both bins.
How the heck do some households only manage to fill one small 'box' bin in a fortnight?????????????
How much do you fill : o

My grey non-recycleables wheelie bin is full every fortnight as is my cardboard/plastic bottles box and my paper box. The tins, cans and bottles box is only about a quarter full (unless we've had a party!). Like you I cook meals from scratch, though there's usually one night a week when the kids have had pizza. We seem to go through an awful lot of toilet rolls though judging by all the tubes that go in the cardboards box!
Meals fom scratch = home cooked meals, I'm coming round tomorrow night.
Hi,

Every time we go shopping we have to pass the Council Tip, I always take the rubbish with me and dispose of it there, saves building up a fortnightly mound.

Like yourself, my wife always cooks from scratch, no packaged stuff and most important of all no waste.

Junk mail tends to cause most problems, that with the unnecessary food packaging accounts for most of the waste.

Regards

Hi, I know what you mean I cook from fresh as well. We've had to get one more recycling bin to keep up with the amount of recycling we do, so that's 2 a week. It's just me and my partner and we certainly have more than our neighbours. However, because we recycle properly, we have much less non-recycable waste than our neighbours, usually one bin liner a week.
This has always made me wonder too. Admittedly I live alone, but after recycling I have just one supermarket carrier bag with refuse in. I do now use a shopping bag though, so am using up old ones.
Some couples in my street have a huge wheelie bin full and extra bags on the floor. I know its ridiculous but it drives me potty. I think the council should chrage them for extra, or only remove one, but then they'd dump it in other peoples bins. Someone across the road had 21 bags out one day, and the bin men took the lot.
Phew! Glad to got that lot off my chest. Thanks for the moan.
Hi all,

I cannot understand why some people have to moan about other peoples waste. We all live different ways, some of us cook fresh produce and some of us buy ready cooked meals; so what. we all produce or collect some form of waste material. Some have more than others.

Are you a spinster Bigsister, you definitely sound like one!!!!!

Regards
try a padlock and chain on your bin, see if you volumes of waste go down. if it does then a neighbour has been taking the mick
