How do I find the code?

I have bought a second hand car and had to disconnect the battery, now I cannot find the code for the radio. The garage where I bought it can't help, they say the woman they bought it from cannot remember it. I know that you can pay to have it recoded, but I am a skinflint and want to do it free!
Any clues please. I know I have 10 attempts left.

I have used them and they're brilliant and very quick..

The charge is �9.95. Don't worry about the number of tries left - the limit is cancelled after a long period without power so you can start again.

Try the last 4 numbers of the car's VIN Number.Worked with mine.
