I see they are blaming their huge debt on very low water bills.

If Thames is your supplier how low is your bill?

Ah the old pub signs. All the water served in this establishment has been passed by the management.

They cannot fit a water meter unfortunately, so we have no options.

@19.19...if Thames have told you that they cannot fit a meter, you can ask for an Assessed Household Charge tariff. You will pay the average amount that a similar customer (with a meter) pays...usually a lot less than your unmetered bill.

last one was £95 for six months, unmetered. Just me, and I don't wash.

You don't wash? Yourself, the dishes, the laundry, floors, windows, the car, the dog?

David Small - my parents were told meter could not be installed but they cut bill on half as they were just 2 I  detached house. Could still use same but paid half bill. Worth doing

I'm with Thames water and have a meter.  They bill me in May and November at about £150 each time.  So approximately £300 p.a.  My daughter is moving out soon so I should be paying even less next May.

We are with South West Water and now pay around £150 for 3 months as we are on a meter.  Before this around 10 years ago we were paying over £110 a month so for us the meter has been good.

Approx £80 for six months. Thames Water with meter. Small 2-bed house with two frugal (but clean) adults.

OG my water meter with Southern Water is outside on the pavement at the front and costs me £109.20 a year which doesn't seem unreasonable to me.  Surely paying for the actual amount you use is a fair way of doing it?

We pay about £300 per year metered with Thames Water. Much less than we were paying before we got the meter,

I'm very pleased we opted for a water meter
