Did you know - if you live alone and your water supply is from Thames water and your property is not suitable for a water meter to be installed, you can get a discount on your water bills ?
They keep that one quiet, don't they ! I've been with them for decades, and I only heard about that from the newspaper last Saturday !

Seems to me to be a blatant confession that they deliberately overcharge those socially aware folk, who opt not to have a meter because they know it is good and right for the community that folk don't skimp on using water for financial reasons. If you can't be forced into their control grabbing charging system then they'll relent and drop the charge a bit in compensation.
