My other half made a late payment on her credit card last month. She has just had her statement through and has been charged 12.00 for doing so. I thought that this practice had recently being stopped and people were claiming these charges back from the banks. I would be grateful if someone could throw some light on the subject. Thanks.

It used to be between 30 to 35 for late payment. The new legislation is to charge a more appropriate rate therefore 12.
oldwoman is right.

Banks and credit card companies are allowed to charge a reasonable administration fee, not an extortionate penalty.

12 is reasonable.
Your could ring them and ask if they will reconsider, if this is a one off you may be lucky.
