That's me this morning - peely wally πŸ€£

Thanks for posting - fun for the Scots and the others who understand the lingo😊

Aye, definitely drookit the day!

I don't understand all the lingo but find the faces very funny...what's peely wally, hungover??

And drookit???

Peely Wally is very pale, usually when you're ill

Drookit is soaking wet from the rain

Thank Maggie πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Sleekit and glaikit???

Great post, Wolfy 😁

Sleekit - sly

glaikit - daft

Or gormless (for glaikit)

Peely wally - I'm not ill but very tired!  Maybe I should have said "Wabbit!"

I'll be able to mystify our relatives who live in Scotland but aren't scottish, next time we see them, when I come out with some of these πŸ€”

A wee story using the Scottish expressions:

Wee Burney got out of bed, opened the blinds and exclaimed "Taps aff" I'll no get drookit today". "Wheesht" said his wife Jeannie who is always  bit crabbit first thing in the morning.
Burney spotted Lizzie from next door (a real stoater if ever you saw one) .."Hi Lizzie ya beauty" he shouted down with  a sleekit look. Lizzie looked scunnered replying "get gaun ye old bampot".
Jeannie's face was a beamer at the gallus way Burney acted after getting blootered when out with the boys. The fact that she felt a bit peely wally and wabbit after the 'flu didn't help.  Slipping on her baffies, she made her way to the kitchen.   Giving her a glaikit look, "Aye right" was all Burney said.

Not Ian Rankin but hey! πŸ˜Š  Time on my hands!
