I seem to remeber its for trafic reports. Its a service you have to subscribe to
Ahhh Memories - good old Traffic Master - i think it was called - a bit like the services you get with Sat Nav nowadays - no idea if they can still be used. My X5 has a traffic Master Button and it was built in 2001 so I'm sure you can subscribe still - see how much it is and compare it to a Tom Tom or similar over a similar period as I seem to remember that the subscription is for 2 years..
The TM button actually stands for The Mrs and relates to the seat to your left.
It is a cleverly disguised Eject seat button, kinda like the one James Bond has, only this one is better.
It will eject the seat without opening the roof.

I dont think mine is working but I still feel the desire to press it many times on long family journeys.

Hope this helps

P.S I tell 'The Mrs' it means Traffic master just to be safe.
Lol at Lee's answer.
lol@lee's answer also I hope his mrs is not on line aswell
My 99 Vectra has got one of those, and if I press it it tells me that the Traffic Master licence has expired, and gives a number to ring to subscribe.
