Too early for Xmas?

When do ABers think it is appropriate for shops to start plugging Xmas merchandise? Obviously many shops start their promotions and run ups at the start of October, meaning three bloody months worth of tinsel, gift packed deoderant and festive tack..... In an ideal world, what do think the appropriate retail 'run up' should be?

Tesco had loads of Xmas stuff in- cards, tinsel etc and Xmas pudds. Also Terry the creepy 'freezer filler upper' who took it upon himself to follow me round the freezer bit told me that they're getting their turkeys in next week.

got to admit I get giddy over Xmas - I've never quite grown up, I adore Crimble. As soon as summer's over I'm looking forward to it.
January.
Dec 20th is about right
After November 5th.
definitely agree with curiosity...once the other commercialised holidays (halloween, guy fawkes night) have been sold christmas should be dealt with! im not saying I dislike all of these holidays by the way...au contraire.. I love them!! but prefer them one at a time!
i quite like the fact that they start early with christmas sales, because i would never be able to afford it if i started buying in december as i'm not very good at saving.
December 1st.
bah humbug.
I hate christmas .
It should be a capital offence to even utter the word before 1st December.
Blyss. I`m with you. I absolutely detest EVERYTHING about Xmas. If I had my way, I`d hibernate from begining of December `till February.
After bonfire night as Curiosity said.

They started putting the Christmas lights up in Manchester already, were some up last week although they are not lit til the 9th November. Christmas stff appearing everywhere and being bombarded with "book your Christmas meals/parties now" in all the pubs and such. Seems like madness to me! I love Christmas but it's too early and takes some of the novelty away.

Can't wait for the Christmas Markets in the town hall square though, fresh bratwurst, gluwein and mini pancakes with cream and chocolate sauce...bliss, and a great night out!

1st December. Is 24 days not enough to buy presents? Holidays are getting so ridiculous these days!
