Any chance of rain in London/SE ??
E. Yorks (northern bit) 12.45 this morning - brilliant light & sound show - massive thunder-rolls & sheet lightning. Day has been grey and humid - began raining lightly about an hour ago, but still humid.
I wish it would hit Perth. It is dark and raining cats and dogs.

I've been trying to make radio contacts across the UK and Europe for much of the day (while manning the amateur radio exhibition stand at a Classic Car and Military Vehicle Rally) and there have been constant static crashes in the speaker (telling me that there have been plenty of thunderstorms about).

This website (which is much used by radio amateurs) is possibly a little more user-friendly (in terms of being able to zoom in easily) than the one in the link within the first post:

Moving out over the North Sea - glad I'm not on an oil rig out there !
I was taking off out of Hong Kong a few years ago and we were struck by lightning. I`ve been struck many times but this time it was so weird. It was like looking at one of those films where a nuclear bomb has gone off. There was a brilliant white light and although it was blinding, you could make out the silhouettes of the people. I have heard bangs before when were struck but this time it was silent and momentarily blinding.
We now have a thick Haar here.
I've always wanted thick haar, mine's really fine.
Harr harr harr !
Me too Barsel......
