"extra money for public services would have to come from economic growth." - what's happened to Labour? What happened to tax anyone with a spare shilling till the pips squeak?
Why is it an epiphany ?
A wealth tax has never been a Labour policy.
The economy is not in a good shape, so the chancellor is unlikely to be able to offer a tax cut bribe before the next election.

You don't know what an epiphany is gromit?
They don't need to tax the rich. All they have to do is tax the motorist and drinkers. They're all loaded anyway.
TORATORATORA, is a wealth tax one of Labour's current policies?
gromit //A wealth tax has never been a Labour policy.//
It has been in the past.
eg

Surveys have shown its popular... as are any tax rises aimed at anyone richer than the person been asked!

I'll do that again, instead of why I somehow read what is! apologies:
anyway.....
"Why is it an epiphany ?" - well because standard Labour policy is to tax the rich b'Stards in anyway they can. Now they have realised that it is necessary for wealth to be created before it can be utilised by the nation. I'd say that is an epiphany.
"A wealth tax has never been a Labour policy. " - Perhaps not policy but it has been called for by past shadow chancellors and others but the extraction of money from anyone with any sort of wealth has long been Labour party policy. The policy of direct taxation of up to 97% in the past has primarily been punitive rather than economic.
So Labour aren’t going to do something which they have never planned to do.
And you think that is an epiphany ?

Don't hold your breath.
Bobbinwales at 10.22 - "Surveys have shown its popular... as are any tax rises aimed at anyone richer than the person being asked!"

Funny isn't it how it always other people who don't pay enough tax.

In the last campaign Corbyn wanted to raise the tax of the "rich" earning over £80k, and yet when he was asked if he was rich on £147k, he said he wasn't.

They class anyone as wealthy who has worked hard and has savings.
