I wonder if any of you can give me your opinions of what you think of these 2 satnav systems, or which you thnk I would be better off buying? I'm on a bir of a budget, so I'm either looking at the TomTom One or the Navman iCN530. Both look good and have things about them I would like, but I'm reluctant to decide against the Tomtom as it is the most well known type of satnav etc. I really don't have a lot of knowledge about these things, so would be grateful for any help! Do they both redirect your route for example if you were to miss your turning? Also, how good is their connections to the satellites? The Navman appears to have a function that tells you the nearest place to park, which sounds great, does the tomtom one do that?! I would be really grateful for any help/advice/opinions!! Thank you!

I have used Tom Tom Navigator on a PDA and now I have a Tom Tom One Regional which is considerably better, all sat nav systems will re route you if you miss a turning, sometimes by asking you to correct your original mistake like when on a roundabout or if you miss a turning they all re calculate another route within seconds, may I suggest you do some research on some of the sat nav forums, I think the jury will be split 50 50 between the Navman and Tom Tom as much of your opinion will be down to personal taste, as far as connection to satellites goes they are all generally the same and most use the same chipset, the function of the navman which tells you where to park is called a POI (point of interest) which can also be programmed into the Tom Tom, you can POI's for whatever you like eg: petrol garages, zoo's supermarkets etc etc. So in summary and as you have hinted I rate the new Tom Tom Regional very highly and they are currently only 199.99 in Argos. Regards.
As alixw says, it will be split 50/50!
I bought the 530 several months ago, and cant praise it enough - we have just returned from a 3000 mile tour of France, and found it was indispensible. The only problem encountered were brand new roads which werent recognised, but Navman soon sorted out the route once we were back on an older road.
I think the only factor governing choice would be aesthetics - the Navman is the slimmer of the two. With TomTom you can download extra voices and stuff like that, plus maps for North America.
But like I said, I'm very happy with the 530...!
Shaun.
