Just wondering from the comments on muslim veils, police officers and mosques below - does anyone on this board actually respects people of the Muslim faith? Or are you all Daily Mail readers?

No, I absolutely do not think that all Muslims think all white people are infidels................but unfortunately the vocal minority are, like it or not, being louder than the normal Muslims and therefore perhaps the reasonable majority should grab hold of their (usually) young men and their hate preaching mad mullahs and get them to tow the line, because I see precious little evidence of this so called peaceful religion.

This is not Daily Mail (what the F does that mean anyway? anybody? Please? - strikes me it is probably a comment somebody has simply heard from somebody else and decided to bandy it about willy nilly) I am just somebody that is sick and tired of seeing images of flag and effigy burning and bearded blokes with mad swivelly eyes screaming at cameras that people are going to be killed for a supposed slight against their 'peaceful' religion.

All religions, I suspect, say they are peaceful, but it is only the Muslims that we see going bananas - correct me if I am wrong, but I don't recall seeing Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists etc... partaking in violent activities such as this, not unless you count a few people getting a teeny weeny bit upset about Jerry Springer The Opera.

sorry but i cant seem to find respect when the police/government pander to the muslims every whim.if i held up a placard saying 'kill blair ' my feet wouldn't touch the ground as i'd be in jail so quick.and yet thousands of them have done this sort of thing even over the cartoon in a DANISH newspaper.what has that got to do with britain.and after hearing one muslim saying he would not rest until britain was a muslim state.respect my a**e.
I dont read the Daily Mail but I am getting increasingly less sympathetic to Muslims and their whinging racist views.
To catso and sandyg - it is not in Muslim teachings to be racist or disrespect people from other religions. It is the brainwashed extremists who have this view and are not seen as Muslims in God's eyes .

Religious conflict between people is surely unecessary and a waste of time. Hopefully one day this won't be such an issue and we could live in a society where everyone respects everyone - regardless of religon, colour, age, gender etc.
TROLL ALERT.

I will ignore him. What do the rest of you say?
I respect their Right to believe foolish things but NOT the Foolish thing they believe.
To be opposed to the hijab isn't to be opposed to the Muslim faith, because the Koran states that a woman should dress "modestly" to prevent lustful desires in men and mentions nothing about veiling; jeans and a t-shirt will do. It's not a religious custom, it's part of a culture.

What I still don't understand, though, is why the Koran makes the distinction- a good-looking/witty/otherwise attractive man can have a similar effect on women as an attractive woman on men. As a firm believer that all races and genders should be treated the same, I can't help but think it's suspicious.

I'm particularly opposed to the hijab simply because it singles out women as needing to be treated differently; this is only my opinion, but to me, it's misogyny.

For the record, I read the Guardian, occasionally the Times.
