I am trying to find out the levels of unemployment in britain between the dates of 1790 and 1860. Could anyone tell me site or, know personally the levels?

This is a figure that can only be established by knowing who in each parish recieved aid from the Overseers of the poor due to being out of work. There wasn't a central system that could collect the figures it was far more localised at Parish and Diocsean level. As the Poor law changed in the 1830s the system became more structured. i hope someone is able to look for a site that may have a clue for you but it would mean an awful lot f research has been carried out on the Parish Records.
