Am having the most dreadful flare-up the past week or so, I can’t even put my right heel on the floor at all, the pain is just terrible. I’ve tried the usual - rolling my foot on the little roller that I have for this - under the arch of my foot, rolling & holding my foot on a bottle of frozen water, nothing is even touching it this time. My doctor just says take painkillers- hasn’t even seen me, this was just a phone message. Is there anything else I can do/try, as my heel just had the most awful stabbing pain, and my Achilles tendon feels as though it’s about to snap even tho I am doing stretching exercises as best as I can.

To start with they remind you of the first time you tried your mother's high heels ;) It only takes minutes to acclimatise though.
Definitely smowball.

Diplomatically........ask your GP if you could take one of the Nsaids as the present regime is ineffective. OR
Nip to the pharmacy and buy Ibuprofen and start with Ibuprofen 400mgs every 4-6 hours.
i had this a few months ago and bought some cheap insoles off the 'net. Now I don't have any pain at all - didn't actually notice it getting better, just that it has gone totally now. I bought a couple of pairs so I didn't have to keep swapping them. Also got some trainers that were avertised as being ideal for this condition with an extra padded insole.
